FIVE ENGRAVED BRASS MAGIC BOWLS AND A QAJAR BOWL WITH FIGURAL DECORATION
PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT EUROPEAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
Iran, 19th and 20th century

Comprising three divinatory brass bowls with concentric bands of auspicious and talismanic inscriptions, the central roundels with flowers and the inscription 'Allah', each approximately 14cm diam.; two small tinned brass bowls, the interiors engraved with divinatory and auspicious inscriptions, the exterior with floral and vegetal decorative motifs, the largest 9.5cm diam.; and a Qajar brass bowl engraved with a double row of oval portrait medallions with rulers, youths, musicians, food and drink bearers, around the rim and base several horizontal bands of floral sprays, the base moulded into a lobed floral burst, 12.5cm diam.
