A rare early George III mid-18th century silver inlaid lacquer snuff box, London circa 1760
Of oblong form with pinned silver-gilt hinge. The lid with an insert central elliptical cartouche contemporaneously engraved with initials J.W from J.L in cursive script, all against inlaid silver decoration of tessellated lunettes and rosettes, flanked by arches of fish scale. The sides similarly decorated with panels centred with circular star medallions and stylised scrollwork, the ended with trailing foliage and flower heads.
