An 18th Century creamware vase by Humphrey Palmer, circa 1775, of classical urn form with porphyry glaze and applied garlands, swags, roundels with rams in low relief, the sides with applied maidens heads, mounted to a square a basalt base and marked L Neale Hanley, height 23cm, ** RESTORED** Notes: Reacting to the popularity of the Wedgwood porphyry glazed creamware vases, Hanley manufacturer Palmer, created less extravagant examples for the reactionary market which criticised the bright and heavy gilding on Wedgwood's pieces. Similar examples can be found in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
