A VERY LARGE LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE FIGURAL CLOCK GARNITURE

A VERY LARGE LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GILT AND PATINATED BRONZE FIGURAL CLOCK GARNITURE the split column base with beaded rim on six turned feet, surmounted by a patinated bronze figure of Cupid after a model by Auguste Moreau (French 1834 - 1917), modelled as a young child with thick locks of hair and small feathered wings, he wears a gilt sash as he holds his gilt bow, a gilt quiver of arrows rests on the naturalistic round base, signed 'Aug. Moreau', the base with bronze plaque inscribed 'Amour A L'Arc', Par Aug. Moreau, Medaille D'Or', the white enamel dial with blue Roman numerals and black Arabic five minute markers, gilt pierced scrolling hands, the twin train movement striking the full and half hours on a bell, stamped Japy Freres, with pendulum, the garniture candelabra with patinated bronze figures of infants or cherubs holding cornucopia issuing six in a rich Rococo style acanthus wrapped branches terminating in foliate wrapped nozzles, raised on square stepped bases on four bracket feet, the clock 81cm high, the candelabra each 89cm high (3)
