Whether nestling on the South Downs or cut into vertiginous Alpine mountainsides, they all seem at odds with their environment. Kissell enjoys collaging together urban dwellings and sublime landscapes, painting realistically to suggest such juxtapositions actually exist, but simultaneously playing with perspective to create visual schisms within each painting”.
