A George II sterling silver coffee pot, London 1741 by George Wickes (this mark reg. 6th July 1739)
Of tapering rounded cylindrical form, upon a moulded foot, the wooden C scroll handle pinned to scroll sockets opposite a moulded shell capped spout. The hinged double domed lid surmounted by a bell form finial. The side engraved with an impaled coat of arms within an asymmetrical rocaille C scroll cartouche flanked by foliage. Marked to the side of handle, makers mark underneath, the lid with lion passant and makers mark only. Also engraved underneath with scratch weight 23=17.

The arms are for Calvert impaling Nicholson
For Felix Calvert (1693-1755) who married Christian Nicholson (c.1695-1759) on the 13th February 1716.
