THREE IRANIAN POTTERY VESSELS WITH FIGURAL DECORATION
Late Qajar and Pahlavi Iran, late 19th and 20th century
Comprising a late Qajar polychrome-painted small dish, of shallow rounded shape, resting on a short circular foot, painted in cobalt blue, brownish red and black under a glossy transparent glaze against an off-white ground, the interior decorated with a Qajar prince and a courtly maiden holding a chained lion in a garden, surrounded by large rosette flowers and thick foliage, the exterior plain, 21.5cm diam. and 5.5cm high; and two later moulded pottery vessels, including a large bowl and a cylindrical vase, painted in polychromes and decorated with Qajar-inspired figural, animal and floral motifs, the bowl 30cm diam. and 13cm high, and the vase 20.2cm high.
