A George III sterling silver tankard, London 1765 by Thomas Whipham and Charles Wright (reg. 24th Oct 1757, disbanded 1767-68)
Of baluster from upon a spreading circular foot, the hinged double domed lid raised by an openwork ‘chair back’ thumbpiece, with moulded hinges upon a double C scroll handle, terminating in a gadrooned scroll moulded terminal. An applied central girdle, the lid with incised concentric circles. Engraved underneath with contemporaneous initials G over C * M and the date 1766 in Roman script. Fully marked underneath and to the interior of the lid.
