Scapula (Johann)
Lexicon graecolatinum…, including titlepage and dedication, but apparently lacking 10 preliminary leaves, title in red and black, with woodcut device, reinforced and repaired at margin, contemporary calf, worn, lower board partially detached, [USTC 6703662], folio, Gabriel Cartier, Geneva, 1609.
*** Former corrector in Henri Estienne's workshop, Scapula was directly inspired by the ‘Thesaurus graecae linguae’ of his master. First published in 1580, this work caused damages to his former employer because of its success due to its advantageous price and size.
