5 Bottles of Livadia Red Port (Cabernet Sauvignon) 1945 from the Massandra Collection. Yalta, Crimea.

Drawn from the prestigious Massandra collection from Crimea (originally founded by Tsas Nicolas II). These wines grew in the vineyards of Livadia in 1945, the year that Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill met at the Yalta Conference. The Yalta conference was one of the three the meetings of Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill in February of 1945 to decide on the shape of post war Europe. It was held in Yalta, and in a deference to the U.S.A. all meetings where held in the Livadia Palace where their delegation was housed. These grapes would have been growing during this historic meeting and come from the vintage that signalled the end of World War 2, the sunlight that fed these grapes would have been the same light that filled the rooms of the palace during these meetings and if you subscribe to the rather poetic statement that wines are the Ghosts of Grapes then maybe these phantoms are rising out their dark cellared past and reminding us about how great conflicts end and ultimately all victories are subject to negotiation.

Some Labels have light staining (4), otherwise in very good condition.

A few wax seals have crumbled exposing the cork (3). All corks are in place.
