Robert Capa (1913-1954)

SCARRED AGRIGENTO, 1943. Vintage silver gelatin press print, image size 17.5 x 16.5cm, sheet size 23 x 17.5cm, with a typed caption label affixed to verso noting it as an Associated Press Photo (from New York), to be used with credit, along with dated 8/13/43 notes about publications including Newsweek, the New York Times, and L-PL (LIFE Pool.). The caption reads, "A Sicilian woman climbs a sloping, debris-strewn street in Agrigento, southcoast city captured by American forces."

This image was published in LIFE Magazine on August 23, 1943. The International Center of Photography, NY, holds a print of this image (ref.2913.1992).
