JOHNNY DEWE MATHEWS, contemporary monoprint, signed, (33 x 43cm). NOTES: Johnny Dewe-Mathews trained as an architect and in the 1970's. He lived for a time in New York working as an architect and flirting with the Andy Warhol world of the time. He got involved in and designed and helped to build houses in Mexico for archaeological projects of ancient Zapotec temples. On his return to England he went to see an exhibition by artist Lucas Sumares and was inspired to take up photography. He started by photographing artists, fashion designers and rock stars. Two years later then director of the national portrait gallery offered him a solo show. This launched his career. He took up painting in oils and watercolours, screen printing.
