Victor Koulbak's paintings blended elements of folk art, Surrealism, and contemporary painting. Heavily influenced by the cultural heritage of Belarus, he often incorporated elements of traditional folk art into his works. He was also interested in the work of Surrealist artists such as Salvador Dali and Max Ernst, and he frequently used dreamlike imagery and strange juxtapositions in his work.
