A NIELLO AND WHITE METAL TURKISH BELT
Ottoman Turkey, dated 1319 (?) AH / 1901 AD

The belt made of two convex rectangular segments of nielloed and parcel-gilt white metal, engraved with beaded bands and stylised scrolls, encrusted with carnelian roundels and cabouchon-cut turquoise beads, tied together with a black leather belt strap at the back, one of the metal terminals signed and dated Amal-e Muhammad (Mehmed) Sultan 1319, the locking pin attached with a chainlet to the lower part of the buckle, approximately 30.5cm diam. and 5cm high.
