TWO INDIAN BRASS TRAYS WITH VEGETAL AND FIGURAL DECORATION
Kashmir, Northern India and possibly Madras (Chennai), Tamil Nadu, Southern India, early to mid 20th century
Comprising a Kashmiri rectangular twin-handled brass tray with raised everted rim and shallow black-enamelled engravings, the decoration featuring a diamond-shaped grid in the centre in-filled with stylised arabesque-like floral motifs, and vegetal meanders around the cavetto and rim, 52.5cm x 29.5cm at widest points; and a large Indian scalloped, flower-shaped brass tray engraved with a central figural medallion with a Hindu god seated on a lion surrounded by three attendants or devotees, the same figures decorating the outer border, all interspersed amidst vegetal scrollwork, 61cm diam.
