A rare George III provincial sterling silver sauceboat, Newcastle circa 1767-70 by John Hutchinson of Durham (active 1767-70)
The bellied oval body raised in three trefid feet with moulded junctions, the shaped everted rim leading to a S scroll acanths capped fly-over handle. Engraved underneath with 18th century intials E.C to A*M in Romans script, also engraved with mid-19th century initials S.G in cursive script. Marked with makers mark, leopards head, lion passant and town mark.
