A large George III sterling silver mounted Turner of Lanes End ale jug, London 1796 probably for John Troby (reg. 29th of March 1787)
The two-tone stoneware body of oviform shape with a D section handle with a moulded acanthus junction, with applied moulded decoration of a hunting party with horses and dogs before a tree to the front and other decoration to the sides and upper section. The plain mounts with a high domed hinged lid raised by an open work ‘chair-back’ thumbpiece. Part-marks to mount and lid.
