A pair of early Victorian sterling silver wine coolers, London 1844 by Benjamin Smith
Each of fluted campana type form with everted scalloped rims all upon spreading lobed bases. Each applied with cast and chased twin scroll handles formed as vines with leafy junctions. The sides engraved with a coat of arms topped with a crest of a dexter hand holding five arrows in bend sinister, all below the motor Be Mindful to Unite, the obverse engraved with the Russian Imperial Eagle. The bodies with engraved decoration of foliate scrolls and sprigs of foliage. Each fitted with a removable silver liner. Each fully marked to the side of handle and to the liners. (2)
