A JAPANESE BRONZE FIGURE OF AMIDA BUDDHA.
Meiji / Showa period.
Seated maditating on a tall double lotus base, wearing monk's robes exposing his chest, with hands arranged in samāhitā mudra and a focussed expression on his face with closed eyes between pendulous earlobes beneath tight curls covering his head, the surface with a dark warm patina, 52cm H.
Provenance: from the collection of Margaret Stuteley (1917 – 2015).
