Native American interest – A Victorian sterling silver christening mug, London 1871 by Robert Harper

Of baluster form upon a spreading circular foot, with a beaded C scroll hand. The side embossed with settler hunter with an axe and shotgun with a kneeling native also with a shotgun gesturing to a group of people, all against hillsides and trees. A cartouche formed as leaves and trees engraved with a presentation inscription reading “John J Sexton by his Godmother Hannah Flint 1873”. Fully marked underneath.
