A set of four Victorian sterling silver pepper pots, Birmingham 1893 by Vale Brothers & Sermon

Each on square bases with ovoid spiral fluted bodies, pull off lids surmounted by urn finials. Each engraved with a crest of using from a Count’s coronet an eagle displayed ducally crowned. Each fully marked. (4)

Height – 9 cm / 3.5 inches

Weight – 128 grams / 4.12 ozt

The crest may be related to D'Alton of Tipperary, Ireland

Where the family were made Counts and Countesses of the German Empire by the Empress Maria Theresa, by Letter Patent, dated at Vienna 25th April 1777 permission to use these titles granted by George III by Royal License, dated 26th October, 1785.
