A George III sterling silver mustard pot, London 1794 by Robert Hennell I (reg. 30th May 1772)

Of octagonal form with a reeded C scroll handle leading to a gently domed lid raised by a disc thumbpiece. The front engraved with a crest of out of a ducal coronet or, a horse's hind-leg sa, the shoe arg. Fitted a blue glass liner. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to the lid

Height – 7.2 cm / 2.75 inches

Weight – 103 grams / 3.34 ozt

The crest is for Duncombe

For Rev. Edward Duncombe (1802-1888) rector of Newton Kyme, York and Susan Mainwaring (1804-1854) daughter of Rev. Charles Mainwaring (1768-1807) of Oteley Park, Shropshire who were married in 1825.

His daughter Emma Susan Duncombe (d.1897) married John Charles Francis Ramsden (1835-1910) in 1863, the son of Captain Henry James Ramsden (1799-1871) and Frederica Selina Law (c.1812-1879) daughter of Sir Edward Law 1st Baron Ellenborough (1750-1818). The grandson of Sir John Ramsden, 4th Baronet (1755 – 1839) and Louisa Susan Ingram-Shepheard (d.1857) the daughter of Charles Ingram, 9th Viscount of Irvine (1727 – 1778).
