CYANOTYPE BOTANICAL STUDIES, c.1880
A group of cyanotype botanical studies (6) of British plant life by an unknown photographer, pasted down to period mounts, plates measuring approx. 21 x 16.5cm, mounts measuring approx. 32.5 x 25cm, each titled in manuscript ink in the upper margin, with further numerical ink annotations to the plates [where the original numbers and captions in the negative have been reversed]. The algae found in the studies include Hylocomium lorcum [shaggy moss]; Brachythecium populeum [matted feather moss]; Hylocomium brevirostre [short-beaked wood moss]; Hylocomium stellatum [wood moss]; Brachythecium rivulare [waterside feather moss]; and Hypnum cupressiforme [cypress-leaved plait moss].
