The ovoid body painted with various beasts and mythical creatures, including a qilin, a lion dog, a horse, and a xiezhi, all galloping around the exterior amongst swirling cloud clusters, fire sprays and cresting waves, the shoulder decorated in reserve with a band of stylised lotus flowers borne from curling leafy stems, the base inscribed with a four-character fu gui jia qi ('beautiful vessel for the rich and honorable') within a rectangular cartouche

See a bowl with a similar decoration to the present lot, with several galloping horses moving around the exterior, also bearing a fui gui jia qi mark and dated to the Wanli Period, sold at Bonhams New Bond Street, 14 May 2015, lot 168.
