A George III sterling silver teapot, London 1786 by Charles Aldridge
Of oval form with reeded rims, the tapering tubular spout opposite a wooden C scroll handle pinned to tubular sockets, the hinged domed lid surmounted by a detachable wooden oval knop finial. The body with bright cut engraved decoration of a vacant elliptical cartouche to each side adjoined by flat chased floral swags, all between two bands of quatrefoils against a striated ground. The top section with a bright cut band of a wavy ribbon interlaced with tailing rosettes and foliage against a striated band.
Fully marked underneath, the lid with lion passant only.
