A George II Channel Islands silver cream jug, Guernsey circa 1740 by Guillaume Henry (active 1720-67)
Of baluster form upon a moulded foot, with C scroll handle. The underside of rim with an incised line. Engraved with initials underneath E L M in Roman script. Marked with makers mark, harp and gothic K.
Height – 8.2 cm / 3.25 inches
Weight – 92 grams / 2.96 ozt

The same marks as on this jug are on the most famous piece of Channel Islands silver, the covered hot milk pot illustrated on the cover of Mayne, R. H., (1969), Old Channel Islands Silver – its makers and marks, Jersey: Print Holdings and Investments.
The Transactions of the Guernsey Society did include a small obituary in 1767. It reads: Guillaume Henry, excellent and clever goldsmiths and engraver, who raised himself by his own efforts, almost without help from any master, to the highest rank of these two noble professions, was buried the 10th February.
