A CHINESE BRONZE INCENSE BURNER, FANG DING.
Qing Dynasty.
The rectangular-section body cast with flanges to each side and four panels with mythical beasts against leiwen ground, the shorter sides with U-shaped handles rising from the rim, with two lines of archaistic script to the interior, all supported on cylindrical feet with monster masks, together with a wood cover and stand, 27.5 x 23 x 16cm, 1.73kg.
Provenance: from the collection of Andreas Hansen Eriksen (1868-1953), stationed in Shanghai and Beijing between 1901 and 1927.
