A George IV sterling silver gilt goblet, London 1822 by Edward Farrell
of baluster form upon a spreading circular foot with a gadrooned knop, the body with an embossed scene of a reclining Aphrodite scolding eros by poking him with a stick while he holds a laming torch, otherwise reserved with foliage, and centred with a vacant rocaille C scroll cartouche, all against a textured ground. The foot with chased lobed panels of acanthus leaves. Gilt interior, faint traces of gilding to exterior. Fully marked to the rim, the maker’s mark located underneath.
