An Ivan VI mid-18th century Russian 84 zolotnik sugar box, Moscow 1741 by Dimitry Konstantinov (b. 1712, active 1739-48)

Of bombe form with an elongated octagonal rim, raised upon four cast paw feet. The pull off domed lid of conforming shape. The body and lid with flat chased decoration of arabesque scrolls and mascles with textured decoration. Fully marked underneath with makers mark ДK in a shaped punch (Postnikova 2414), assayer Afanasy Rybakov (active 1729-48) and combined town and date, also with assay scrape. The lid marked with combined town and date to the top, makers mark to exterior edge, assayer mark to interior edge as well as assay scrape.
