Iran, late 19th - early 20th century
Pen, pencil, white wash and ink on paper, with gold, blue and red highlights, comprising a Reza Abbasi-revival drawing with a Qajar youth and a mountain goat, a narcissus tucked in the youth’s sash, laid on cardboard, in modern mount, 9.5cm x 16.5cm, 12cm x 18.5cm including the border; another drawing with a Sufi sheikh seated on a panther skin in a landscape, a coco-de-mer kashkul to his side, the top inscribed in red ink in nasta’liq script Ya Baqir ul Olum, an invocation to the Fifth Shi’a Imam, within black and gold borders, laid on red cardboard, 19cm x 15cm including the support; and an album page, assembled from two unrelated works, a deer in a landscape above, inscribed with Ya Shah-e Najaf 1260AH (1844), and a dismounted princely hunter with foul below, within gold and black borders, on glazed yellow album page mount, laid on cardboard, 18cm x 12.5cm, 34cm x 24cm including the support.
