A matched Victorian sterling silver tea and coffee service, the majority London 1879 by Samuel Smith (Goldsmiths Alliance)
Comprising a Coffee pot, teapot, twin handled sugar bowl and a milk jug (London 1837 by J&A Savory). Each of lobed circular ‘melonized’ form, raised on four anthemion and acanthus scroll bracket feet, moulded scalloped rims. The teapot and coffee pot with curved fluted anthemion capped spout opposite C scroll handles fitted with turned ivory insulators, the teapot handle with leaf calyx junction. The teapot and coffee pot with a hinged domed lid of conforming shape each surmounted by a detachable cast gourd and leaf calyx finials. The coffee pot with a removabel muslin filter ring. The milk jug with gilt interior, the sugar bowl with traces of a gilt interior. Each engraved with a crest of a tower. Each fully and part-marked to the lids, finials and handles, the muslin ring fully marked, the teapot, coffee pot and sugar bowl also stamped underneath ‘Goldsmiths Alliance Limited, Cornhill London.
