TWO HISPANO-MORESQUE COPPER LUSTRE-PAINTED POTTERY MELEROS (HONEY JARS)
Possibly Manises, Post-Nasrid Spain, 19th century

Comprising a near pair of honey jars, each of tall, gently flared, cylindrical shape, with a wide, slightly everted rim at the top and narrowing base towards the foot, painted in ruby copper lustre on cream ground with bands of stylised curled leaves and kidney-shaped flowers, each mounted on a stepped circular wooden stand, respectively 27.3cm and 29.2cm high

A comparable pair of honey jars were successfully sold at Christie's New York, 500 Years Decorative Arts Europe including Oriental Carpets, 21 - 22 October 2010, lot 292.

Dimensions: 27.3cm and 29.2cm high

Estimated at £800 - £1,200
