A SMALL OTTOMAN SILVER SCRIBE'S PEN BOX (DIVIT)

Ottoman Turkey, 19th century
The pen case of elongated rectangular shape, with convex endings, to its side a compressed bulbous inkwell of rectangular section with chamfered corners, the solid silver pen box finely engraved with intricate vegetal festoons and rosette bands, the size normally attributed to pen cases given to children starting their calligraphic training, 17.5cm long.
Provenance: Spink's London, 25 April 1988, and in private London collection since.
