A George II provincial sterling silver mustard pot, Newcastle 1759 by James Kirkup (active 1753-1774)
Of cylindrical ‘drum’ form with moulded rims, the hinged disc lid with incised concentric circles raised by a pierced heart scroll thumbpiece leading to a C scroll handle. Spoon aperture cut to front of pot, the front engraved with a crest of a sun in splendour. Fully marked underneath, the lid unmarked.
