THREE POLYCHROME-PAINTED AND LACQUERED PAPIER-MÂCHÉ DUCK CHARPAI LEGS
Possibly Deccan, Central India, 18th - early 19th century
Each of composite shape, resting on a bell-shaped foot with flat circular base, surmounted by a Hamsa duck bent backwards, the duck's neck area flattened to act as support or foot for a charpai or piece of furniture, each leg polychrome-painted and finely lacquered with silver palmettes on the base, lotus leaves below the duck-shaped support, and colourful wings around the breast, tails and neck of the ducks, each ca. 27cm high.
