A George III sterling silver sugar basket, London 1780 by Burrage Davenport
of circular form with rounded base upon a pedestal circular base with cavetto edge and beaded rims. The swing handle with beaded decoration. The body with bright cut engraved decoration in the neo-classical style of rosettes and laurel swags joining above a vacant oval cartouche, a guilloche border above, the foot with lunettes. Fully marked underneath, the handle unmarked, also with a small engraving test underneath.
