A Charles X / Louis Phillipe early 19th century French 950 standard silver gilt cup, Paris 1819-38) by FA Boulanger (reg. 1819)
Empire style, of rounded circular form with a palmette rim, upon a spreading circular foot, with acanthus decoration and a laurel edge. The handle with a swan terminal. The front with an applied boss of Thetis riding two Hippocampus, an applied laurel cartouche to each side, one engraved with a coat of arms surmounted by a Count’s coronet, the other later engraved DORIS. Maker’s mark underneath foot rim edge of FAB, marked through, also with spurious Russian kokoshnik mark. Together with a Louis XVII silver gilt saucer, Paris circa 1793-4 by S J Dupezard, circular form with palmette rim, marked to the underside of stand with unofficial Silversmiths' Association (Association des Orfévres) 1793-4 mark, maker’s mark SJD, and additionally marked for Paris 1819-38.
