AN OTTOMAN GILT COPPER (TOMBAK) LIDDED CUP
Ottoman Turkey, late 18th - 19th century
Of typical cylindrical shape with a rounded base, resting on a slightly splayed circular foot, surmounted by a compressed domed lid with bud-like finial, the sides and lid engraved with vegetal festoons and rosette bouquets, around the rim a band of beading, 13.4cm high.
Two almost identical Tombak lidded cups were successfully sold at Christie's London, 11 April 2008, lots 327 and 328.
