CALDWELL M.D, Charles (1772-1853). Elements of Phrenology. [U.S]: Lexington, Ky, A. G. Meriwether, 1827. 8vo. Engraved frontispiece (pages spotted). Original grey/green boards (spine worn, rear board hanging by a thread). Provenance: ASSOCIATION COPY INSCRIBED " To James De Ville Esq, with the compliments of the highest respect and regard from the author, June 25th 1841". Also signed by E. Basil Wedmore to the front endpaper and dated 1890.  James De Ville (1777-1846) was a noted practical British Phrenologist, supplier and maker of phrenological casts in London from the 1820s to the 1840s. Edmund Basil Wedmore (1876-1956) was prominent for his work on bee-keeping.
