THREE INDIAN COPPER AND BRASS LOTAS (WATER VESSELS)
India, 19th century
Comprising three engraved brass and copper lotas, each of rounded bulbous shape, one resting on a flattened base, the latter two on a splayed foot, rising to cylindrical necks and widely everted rims, engraved with a variety of alternating geometric, animal, figural and floral patterns including Hindu deities like Ganesha, Shiva, and female goddesses, and auspicious hamsa ducks, fish and snakes (nagas), the largest approximately 18cm high, the smallest approximately 12cm high.
