Maraldi (Giacomo Filippo)
Autograph letter signed ('Giacomo Filippo Maraldi'), in Italian, to fellow astronomer Eustachio Manfredi in Bologna, saying in part "we have received the annotations on the lunar eclipse on October 21st, 1725 made by Jesuit fathers in different parts of the city of Peking. They are consistent and worked out very carefully. Since the observation of the eclipse could not be carried out properly in European cities, I am sending you those annotations o the principal phases of the eclipse, so you can link to the Bologna meridian. The time difference between Peking and Paris, based on the eclipses of Jupiter's satellites is 7 hours and 36 minutes", two pages, integral blank, address leaf, some age related toning, 4to, 2 October 1726.
