AN INDIAN BRASS LOTA-SHAPED VESSEL WITH FEMALE FIGURES
Possibly Orissa, Eastern India or Karnataka, Southern India, 19th century
Of compressed globular shape, resting on a concave base, rising to broad shoulders and a narrow cylindrical neck, on the lower body a band with stylised female figurines, possibly a form of local goddess inspired by Lakshmi and Uma, on the shoulders five out of six protruding tubular elements, without any piercing, possibly conceived as decorative, not-functional spouts, 10.2cm diam. and 18cm high.
