FOOTNOTE: Binderton House was Sir Anthony Eden's private residence. Rex Whistler was a guest there before embarking for Normandy. He was killed shortly afterwards on 18th July 1944 in France, on the first day of active servie in Operation Goodwood. Dr Nikki Frater, independent art historian and specialist in the work of Rex Whistler has suggested that this work is believed to be the artists last oil painting.
