WORLD WAR TWO - AIRBORNE 'PSYWAR' PROPAGANDA AND LEAFLETS

A collection of 9 items, including:

Leaflet dropped at Swatow (Shantou) by Japanese planes in 1938 (the Japanese were bombing at the time), picked up by a US sailor at the port on board the USS Asheville, on tissue paper, with the letter which he posted home with it;

German invasion of the Soviet Union, small Russian-language leaflet persuading Soviet soldiers of the 60th Infantry Regiment to desert near Novgorod: ‘Italy continues the war and has remained in close friendship with Germany [...] This leaflet is valid as a pass’;

Surrender pass prepared by the US Army for use by Japanese and Koreans: ‘The bearer has ceased resistance’;

Four Serbian pamphlets issued by the pro-Nazi government, three lampooning teh allied leaders, one on the German-Japenese alliance, c.1942;

A British-issued airdrop leaflet, with a forged Hitler stamp, the front stating that the food ration for the German chiefs of staff is the same as the ordinary civilian, the rear with a Gestapo document showing that they in fact receive four times the ration;
