An early 18th century German unmarked silver gilt kiddish cup, probably Augsburg circa 1710-30
Judaica – The octagonal bowl, upon a central facetted knop stem leading to a domed section circular foot. The body with flat chased interlocking strapwork against a textured ground below a plain rim and incised edge. The foot section with chased leafy sprays.
Height – 9.7 cm / 3.78 inches
Weight – 84 grams / 2.7 ozt
A kiddish cup with similar form foot and strapwork to bowl marked for Augsburg 1736-37 by
Bartholomäus Heuglin, was sold Sotheby’s 29 April 2013, lot 128 ($17,500 incl. premium)
