Royal interest – A cased mid-20th century Iranian (Persian) silver cigarette box, Isfahan circa 1967 mark of Husain Parvaresh
Pahlavi dynasty, of rectangular form upon bracket feet, the hinged lid raised by a simple thumbpiece. The lid centred with an applied yellow metal boss of the Pahlavi crown, with an engraved ghalam zani medallion with scalloped edge, flanked by strapwork arabesques edged with nightingales. The sides with engraved arabesques flanked by birds all against a textured ground. Traces of gilding to the interior. Marked to the underside corner with town mark, standard mark (84) and workshop mark حسین پرورش. Housed within a fitted case, red faux leather exterior tooled with the Imperial Arms of the Pahlavi Shahbanu of Iran.
