Previously in the collection of a British missionary family residing in Burma in the 1920s-30s;

Collection of Prospect Burma, UK.

The kyizi is used for ceremonial purposes, and larger ones can be found hanging in Buddhist temples throughout present-day Myanmar, with variations found across Asia.

c.f. A similar gong, inscribed and dated to 1954, is housed in the collection of the British Museum, acc. no. 1996,0501.49. Another is exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, acc. no. 89.4.2328.
