AN AZTEC POTTERY PITCHER Late Classic, Coatlalpanec style, Circa 1470 - 1521  Standing on a flat base, with a squat bulbous body, surmounted by a wide neck and angled spout, the strap handle applied at the rim and shoulder, the lower half of the body and the neck with red colouration, the upper half of the body, handle and inner neck with black colouration, 23.8cm high. Provenance: Collection of Dr. David Harner, acquired in the 1960s or earlier; collection of Peter G. Wray, Scottsdale, Arizona, acquired 1970s; collection of Scott & Stuart Gentling, Fort Worth, Texas, acquired prior to 1980; Ex Bonhams New York, African,Oceanic and Pre-Columbian Art, 12 November 2014, lot 124 (part); Ex Art Primitivo Gallery New York, New York.
