A late 17th century German parcel gilt silver cannister, Augsburg 1695-1700 by Paul Solanier (b. 1635, meister 1665, d. 1724)
Of lobed barrel form raised upon four compressed ball feet. The screw thread cap with a hinged opposable faceted handle, above lobed sections. The body with flat chased stylised fruiting vine and textured sections. Gilt interior. The underside engraved with a 2. Marked underneath with town mark (Seling 150), maker’s mark P.S (Seling 1669C) and assay scrape (tremolierstich) underneath and to lid interior.
