A late 19th / early 20th century Burmese unmarked silver large mustard pot, Rangoon circa 1900
Of compressed circular form raised upon three claw feet with a scalloped apron. The handle cast and chased as a nāga leading to a hinged lid cut with a spoon aperture, surmounted by a detachable cast figure of a Chinthe. The body with chased and embossed decoration to the bowl of vignettes of figures and creatures, such as Hanuman, Chinthe, Maricha assuming the form of a golden deer, a monkey, a nat, and others, all reserved with foliate scrolls. The lid with chased decoration of alternating rabbits and cockerels with trailing arches.
